OET Now Accepted in IRELAND!!

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) has announced that they will also accept Occupational English Test (OET) as proof of language proficiency starting January 2, 2018. This follows in the steps of the United Kingdom’s decision to accept OET results as an alternative for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration starting November 1, 2017. Previously, NMBI accepted only IELTS Academic and IELTS Academic for UKVI as evidence of English language competency for overseas nurses trained outside EU or EEA countries, (or what they call Group 3). NMBI will accept the following scores on the OET from 2 January 2018 as part of the application process for Non-EU applicants ONLY:

  • At least a Grade C+ in Listening and Reading
  • At least a Grade B in Writing and Speaking

Please refer to the OET website for more detailed information regarding the OET.
